Dear Readers and Viewers,
I would like to share some of my best knowledge on the topic of “technology” with you in this blog post to help you understand the benefits and drawbacks of both the state of current and future technologies, as technology is a significant factor that is determining and will continue to determine the growth of every industry globally and the state of the environment, including all living things.
In general, “technology” is described as a process of execution based on experience, observation, study, invention, development, and forecast that, in line with environmental and social circumstances, makes it easier and more pleasant for every human to go about their daily lives or to fulfill their needs. In reality, according to the different situations, it has been a protracted process that began with the discovery of fire during the Ice Age and has continued up to the modern scientific world of humans.
The technology related to any of the matters or subjects is mainly grouped into four categories: 1) obsolete technologies (example: power transmission by utilizing the muscle power of humans and animals); 2) existing technologies (example: power transmission by burning fossil fuels); 3) improved technologies (example: power transmission by discharging stored electricity); and 4) proposed technologies (example: power transmission by splitting hydrogen molecules).
Parallel to the defense sector, technology connected to the food, textile, construction, industrial, and medical sectors was given top focus. Then, in addition to the aforementioned sectors, focus was placed on the sectors of power generation, production, transportation, electronics, information, and communication in order to fulfill the demands of a growing population. The growth of science and technology related to space and the environment is the foundation for the advancement of information and communication technology, which is currently playing a significant role worldwide.
An important fact to be noted is that the proven technology of any field used yesterday based on the reference of the previous day of yesterday is used today and will be out of date tomorrow since the changes are permanent and continuous. So a continuous process over improved and new technologies in every field has been moving at a rapid pace in order to meet current and future requirements that are purely dependent on the utility and conversion of resources naturally available at three locations: 1) resources over the earth (soil, water, etc.); 2) resources under the earth (metals, minerals, gas, etc.); and 3) resources in the atmosphere (various gases).
According to studies, the technologies that have been discovered and developed are very helpful in meeting the needs of the world’s growing population (for instance, burning fossil fuels for power generation and transportation). However, the studies also assert that the very technology that was introduced to meet human needs—such as pollution and toxic byproduct emissions from the burning of fossil fuels—has a major detrimental impact on all other living things on land and in water, including humans. Studies show that while some technologies (such as the transmutation of radioactive elements) help humans gradually, if they are used, they will quickly wipe out humankind and all other living and non-living things.
I would like to remind my readers and viewers of this blog of two well-known facts: 1) think about how much the environment changed between the Ice Age and the year 2024 A.C. because of technologies developed to meet human needs; and 2) think about how long it will take to restore the environment so that it will be around for our children’s generation.
I would like to conclude with a humble request to find the improved technologies in a way to reduce all negative effects, either gradually or instantly, of the existing technologies and find new technologies that should be reliable and should not affect the environment in any way since we need the earth to live.
SUMMARY
Technology is a necessity of time and is unavoidable.
Technology can create many direct benefits and negative consequences as well.
There is no other place, and preserving the environment has become mandatory.
It is not possible within a particular timeframe to redeem the lost vanity of nature once it is ruined.
The resources on, in, and around the planet are vital for maintaining ecological balance.
The correct solution would be to find a perfect technology with no side effects on the environment.
