Dear Readers and Viewers,

Through this blog, I would like to discuss one of the well-known facts, which is related to the future requirement of the floor space on our earth for the increasing population without further destroying nature’s gifts such as forests, water resources, and the lands that are being utilized for cultivation.

Out of the three parts of our earth, two are covered with water, and the remaining one is land, encircled with forests, hills, valleys, deserts, and icebergs. At first, in order to meet the needs of human beings, such as food and shelter, a part of the forests in the plain and hills were destroyed and converted into agricultural and residential lands.

After some time, to meet the other essential needs of human beings, the forests next to the residential and agricultural lands were further destroyed and converted into roads and small conventional industries, used to make some essential items such as home appliances, hunting tools, agriculture tools, and transport spare parts.

After then, the population and their needs gradually increased, and hence the requirement of land for residence, agriculture, cattle feed, factories, and roads increased. Major land acquisition and destruction of forests vigorously started after the industrial revolution, during the period (before and after) of world wars.

The production of oxygen required to live all organisms on earth naturally takes place from the trees and plants in the forests and hills. Due to the destruction of forests and meeting many requirements, the natural oxygen production required to live is gradually decreasing.

In the meantime, the air needs to live in the atmosphere and has been gradually polluted and reached an unsafe limit due to air pollutants such as hazardous gases (ammonia, carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, nitrous oxides, methane, etcetera), particulates (organic and inorganic), and biological molecules.

The expansion of industries, factories, roads, residences, schools, colleges, hospitals, hotels, shopping malls, agriculture land, etcetera is becoming an indefinite activity due to the increased population and their requirements. Hence, the requirement for land also increased.

Previously, the basic, essential needs of human beings were food, shelter, and clothing, but now pure air to inhale, pure water to drink, and medicine to maintain health are included in the list of essentials. Out of the six needs, four are food, shelter, cloth, and medicine, depending on the land in the forest, but the remaining two are air and water, depending on securing the forest. In these critical situations, we cannot destroy the forests further since we need oxygen to live and water to drink.

In this situation, one of the alternatives is to convert the waste land for multipurpose use. A study estimates that there are 63.85 million hectares of wasteland around the world. These types of wastelands can be used for various purposes, such as to develop new forests, agriculture lands, residential lands, rainwater reservoirs, industrial parks, heavy storage, etcetera.

The aim of the proposal (development of multipurpose land by transformation of waste lands) is to help meet the needs of the increasing population, such as pure air, pure water, food grains, vegetables, fruits, residences, schools, hospitals, cloths, medicines, etcetera, without further degradation of agricultural lands and deforestation.

SUMMARY
The existing fertile land and water catchment area should not be converted into any form of utility zone for any reason.
Deforestation and the exploitation of oceans and ice-capped mountains should be strictly prohibited.
The complete industrial zone of all sizes must be shifted far away from the cities and villages and reinstalled on the waste lands only so that we can prevent many adverse effects.
Without further delay and with high priority, waste land around the globe must be identified and converted into multipurpose land according to its nature.
In this connection, I have a lot of worthwhile strategies for achieving the valuable aim as well as the benefits.
